Blazing through the road along the coastline near Bridgetown in Barbados were the scorching  set of wheels belonging to the V12 powered Ferrari 599.  It gave a stiff competition to the blue Lamborghini which glued to it’s tail.

It was a fun filled  Sunday where friends pushed the gas pedal for a surge of adrenalin rush. Little did they know what dreadful instance they were about to encounter next. Around a curve as the Lamborghini tried to edge past, the red beast swerved. A gentle brush against each other at that raging speed spun the Ferrari out of control. It went somersaulting off the road and crashed onto the boulders alongside. The blue warhorse screeched to a halt at a distance.

As the driver of the Ferrari was hoisted out, he was lucky to be alive with a broken femur and a fractured shoulder blade. The red beast had been reduced to a heap of metal breathing it’s last as it dutifully protected it’s master.

WIthin the next hour, the arrival of the emergency medic, police and the guardians of the victims brought to light another horrific episode. The newly shipped Ferrari had not been insured. It was awaiting it’s registration and other documentation papers when it had been driven out.

While the guardians were happy at their son surviving the crash, but then they were now  in great debt. A fortune worth of a car with no means of financial recovery was indeed bad news!  Besides, the readily available  motor insurance from Consumer’s Guarantee Insurance could have salvaged the situation in a jiffy. Had protection been sought under this long standing and trusted insurance giant, recovery of the financial burden would have been a cakewalk.

But alas ! Today, I regret that my Dad had not sought the CGI  motor insurance when he bought the car . He had wavered it off as an unnecessary expenditure. Today, with our house sold, I have been working double shifts for the past two years, hoping to make up for the loss  that I  caused to my father’s hard earned money.
