Ever wonder what it's like at the florists' shop? What happens to all those fresh wedding flowers? Is it a fun job for the staff? Well, it depends on various factors such as personality, workload and attitude. Here's a quick primer on a day at the florist.

First, one must realize that every florist is different. Some are large; others small. Individuals can find either setup exciting depending on one's personality and overall approach to team settings. Additionally, some florists may be more inclined to working on everyday arrangements whereas others focus on wedding flowers or funeral flowers.

A quick peek inside a florists' work area is sure to reveal some interesting sights. Many florists carry a wide range of floral tools and supplier such as floral shears, wire, foam, pins, ribbons and much more. Another interesting sight is that many work tables are filled with scraps of flowers including petals, stems, calyx, buds and floral blooms.

Some individuals find the work interesting, especially when it comes to creating opulent flowers for wedding. Others may decide to focus on other specialty flowers such as flowers for funerals, anniversaries, parties and corporate events. During the day, the pace can vary depending on the level of business. Generally, the larger florists will be busier owing to their size and market presence. But their relatively large staff size helps to provide work life balance. A smaller florist will employ fewer individuals, which means the workload will be taken up by only a few individuals creating pressure and staff for unprepared organizations.
