Sunderbans National Park is Asia’s largest National Park, Tiger Reserve and a Biosphere reserve in India. The place is geographically known as the Great Indian Delta marking the most fertile region of the country. The present geographical Sundarbans National Park had been declared as the core area of Sundarbans Tiger Reserve in the year 1973 and a wild life sanctuary in 1977. The place is also popular among the tourists for the presence of salt water crocodile. The Park attained the status of a National Park on 4th May 1984. Sundarban is located in between 21° 32’- 21° 55’ N latitude and 88° 42’- 89° 04’ E longitude in the Indian state of West Bengal. Sunderban is the single largest block of tidal halophytic mangrove forest in the world. It was recently the place has earned the status of a Heritage Place by United Nations Educational and Scientific Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
